You may try to explain
But I shall not be deluded

All your words I now disdain -
Love & warmth, they once exuded

You ruled my world

With eloquence of speech

Like the blooms unfurled

By a fondling breeze

Oh, the words held such spark

My senses they'd titillate

Like candles glowing in the dark

They'd make moments scintillate

They'd caress their listener

So fondly, so gently

No sound could be diviner

To listen to, so intently

Like a slow, tranquil stream

They flowed in pleasant cadence

Giving a feel of a sweet dream,

Caught me in rapt silence

Your words made me content

And I was walking on air

Alas, It was never meant
To be such a lovely affair

No more sugary words

I now take fancy to

For such words & only words
Have slain me and you.
